December Library Hours and Closures

Starting December 1, the library will be open from 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday.
Regular library hours resume January 2. The library will be closed December 8
through December 15 so we can replace the carpet on our second floor. No materials will be due during this week. The library will also be closed December 24th and 25th for the Christmas Holiday.

November and December Closures

With the holiday season approaching, we want to let you know about some upcoming library closures.

The library will be closed Monday, November 12, in observance of Veteran's Day. On Wednesday, November 21, we will close at 6pm and remain closed Thursday, November 22, for Thanksgiving. We will be open on November 23 and 24.

Library Computer System Upgrade

The library will be upgrading the computer system the week of November 9 through November 15. During this time, patrons may continue to check out materials. The library will be unable to fill hold requests, check materials in, or settle account balances. Any items due this week will be given clemency during check-in. Full services will resume November 15.

With our new computer system, Marshall Public Library will be able to provide the community better access to materials with an easy-to-navigate catalog, better searching features, and the option to receive emails or text messages regarding your account.

Stress Less Yoga

On Saturday, November 10, at 10 am at the Marshall Public Library, local yoga student Natalie Echanis will teach easy yoga techniques that you can do anywhere to help lessen your stress during the holidays.

The holidays are the most stressful time of year for many of us. The stretching and breathing methods of yoga can help us to release that stress and relax our bodies and minds. Yoga techniques can be used as soon as stress arises, even while sitting in our offices at work or standing in line at the store, to help us release tension and regain our calm.

Echanis, a registered dietitian, graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences. She has practiced yoga for five years and is working towards her NETA yoga certification. Echanis will teach easy yoga techniques to help you to relax and tap into your energy during the holidays. No special clothing or equipment is required, but please come prepared to stretch and move.

Model Railroad Display

Marshall Public Library is proud to display the handiwork of Terry Bunn during the month of November.

Mr. Bunn, an avid model railroader, has turned his skills to making models of horse-drawn vehicles, specializing in covered wagons. The historical accuracy and museum-quality detail of his models has assured one an honored place in the Fort Hall Replica gift shop. Mr. Bunn’s handmade replicas feature moving parts such as working brakes. He even uses period blacksmithing methods to wrap metal around the wagon wheels.

Million Minute Family Challenge Update

It has been two months since Marshall Public Library and its patrons joined the nationwide challenge of 1 million minutes of game time before December 31. The challenge encourages families and friends to play non-electronic games together. As of date, we have logged in over 45,000 minutes!

On November 14, the library will have a game night from 6-8pm. People can play the games the library has or they can bring their own. The library will also have a game day marathon on December 29 from 10am-5pm. Bring your family and friends (and anyone else you can find) to play games, relax, and make a final push towards that one million minute mark.
